The Executive Board

 

The Yale Debate Association is run by a board of five students who are elected by the team as a whole each year. This board is responsible for everything from selecting the year's class of novice debates and handling the team's finances to making travel arrangements and planning the team's tournaments. Board 2012

President: Robert Colonel. Robert is a senior in Saybrook College from Winter Springs, Florida. He has been involved in debate since high school, where he competed in Student Congress. He was an assistant tournament director for the 2010 High School Tournament. When not debating, he enjoys ultimate frisbee, penguins, economics, politics, and thrash metal music. 

Director of Membership: Andrew Connery. Andrew is a senior in Pierson College from Norman, Oklahoma majoring in Political Science with a focus in American Politics. He has been involved with debate since high school, where he competed mainly in Policy debate and US extemporaneous speaking. He served as Treasurer on the 2010 Executive Board and an Assistant Director for the High School Invitational in 2010. 

Director of Tournaments: Stacey Chen. Stacey is a senior in Saybrook College from Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania majoring in Political Science. She has been involved in debate since high school, when she competed in extemperaneous speaking. before serving on the board, she was a co-tournament director for the 2010 Osterweis Debate Tournament and assistant tournament director of the 2011 Yale High School Invitational. Beyond debating, Stacey enjoys baking, animal photos, and political science experiments. 

Director of Development: Ben Kornfeld. Ben is a senior in Davenport College from Auckland, New Zealand. He is majoring in Economics and Mathematics and in his spare time enjoys obscure sports knowledge. In high school he debated for the New Zealand national team at the World Schools' Debating Championships. Prior to being on board he served on the development committee and as Deputy Chief Adjudicator of the Yale IV. 

Treasurer: Maxwell Dovala. Max is a senior in Silliman College from Boulder, Colorado, majoring in Economics and Political Science. He was involved with debate throughout high school, where he competed in Lincoln-Douglas debate. Before his term as Treasurer, Max was the Co-Director of the 2011 Yale High School Invitational, andA ssistant Director of the 2010 Yale Invitational, and served for two years as the team webmaster. In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his friends and spending time with his Golden Retriever, Molly.
